OneWed’s Local Flavor: A Little Relationship Advice…The One Phrase You Need to Know

Guest Blogger Profile: Jennifer Napier of OneWed.com

Hands up if you’ve ever heard a girl complain that “You never listen”?

Personally, I’m with you. I have a really hard time just listening to someone complain! But, I’m a gal, so over the years, I’ve learned the number one phrase to make a girl feel like you’ve listened to her.  I will share it with you now:

“Really, she said that? That sucks.”

Need proof? Check out these two possible conversations:

The WRONG way

Her: We can’t afford to have our invitations addressed by a calligrapher! I’m so pissed!

You: So, why don’t we just address the invitations ourselves?

Her: Didn’t you hear what I just said? I’m really upset about this. You never listen to me. Our invitations set the tone for the wedding and you want to scribble the addresses on them with crayons?

The RIGHT Way

Her: We can’t afford to have our invitations addressed by a calligrapher! I’m so pissed!

You: Really, calligraphy costs that much? That totally sucks. (pause) Hey, here’s an idea, what if we look into some other options? Maybe I could do that.

Her: I guess there might be a different way to do it. Hey, want a beer?

See with that one phrase you’ve repeated back what she said, now she feels listened to and validated, and you can go ahead and fix the problem. You both win.

Here’s an example of the type of Q/A advice Simon will be sharing with our readers:

Question- Who do we invite to the rehearsal dinner?

Simon: Traditionally you invite the families, ushers, groomsmen and bridesmaids.  I’m finding that these days that guest list is much, much larger.  Invite only the necessary people to the ceremony rehearsal but think about inviting all your guests to the dinner, you don’t have to pick up their tabs or buy their booze.  I suggest picking up the tabs for the people who attend the ceremony rehearsal but not the rest of the guests.  This will give the guests a chance to meet each other before the reception.  This will take away any awkward moments at the dinner table the next day because they have a chance to meet, chat and share a cocktail or two.  I have heard from numerous guests that they love a pre party before the reception on the big day.

OneWed’s Local Flavor: Spice Up Your Wedding Night Sex

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Jennifer from OneWed.com is back with some tips on making that wedding night sex memorable.

For those Grooms out there who are far from virginal, how do you make your wedding night romp with your new wife feel like the first time?

Why not take a sex hiatus before the big night. As they say, absence makes the heart [and other things] grow fonder. And, the sex break can lead to very creative ways of reducing much needed wedding planning anxiety.

He couldn't do it. Can you?

He couldn't do it. Can you?

Before starting off on your abstinence retreat, make sure you talk it over with your bride-to-be. I did hear of a groom who took a break pre-wedding without talking to his bride first..she FREAKED thinking he was reconsidering the nuptials. This scenario does not qualify for make-up sex.

Happy Willpower!
