5 signs she wants perfect engagement ring

By Stephanie Herbst, Wedding Party Blog

So you’ve been with your girlfriend for a while, and you’re starting to think that this could be it — she could be the person you’re going to marry. Once you both realize that the relationship is heading towards marriage, something changes. You know you’re going to be proposing, and she knows you’re going to be proposing, but neither of you really know the details — when, where, or how. You’ll probably figure all of these details out as you start to plan a proposal, but let’s be real: planning a proposal is stressful! And then there’s the pressure of finding the perfect ring. Of course, you could just ask her what she likes or offer to take her ring shopping, but if that’s not your (or her style), you’ll need to find out what she loves some other way.

However, she might have been secretly dropping hints for a while, and you just haven’t noticed! If your girlfriend has done any of the following things, she’s trying to tell you about her perfect engagement ring, without being too obvious.

1. She’s talking about her friend’s engagement rings

If your girlfriend has been chatting about her other girlfriend’s engagement rings, the temptation to tune out might be strong — but don’t do it! Instead listen up and maybe even prod the conversation along. For example, if she says something like “Ick, (insert friend’s name)’s is soooo tacky” or “I would never choose (friend name)’s engagement ring” next time she’s checking out Facebook, take notes! Does she hate how big it is? The gold band? The cut of the rock? The more you know what she thinks about her friend’s rings, the more you know about what she likes and doesn’t like.

2. She’s leaving her magazines open all over the apartment…

On pages that feature engagement rings. You may not be noticing, but if they’re lying open on the couch, on your night stand, or on the kitchen table, check the page — if it’s an engagement ring ad or editorial feature, she’s trying to say something. Especially take note if there are a couple rings circled in Sharpie. Seriously — this happens.

3. She’s leaving her laptop open…

To her secret engagement ring Pinterest board. For those of you who aren’t familiar with secret Pinterest boards, they’re basically spaces on Pinterest where you can collect photos of stuff you like, without anyone else being able to see them. If you walk into the room with the laptop or computer on a website with pictures of certain engagement rings, remember the link or the name of the ring, and do your research later.

4. Her BFF or sister is dropping hints

If your girlfriend’s best friend or sister sends you an email or a text offering to help you buy her a ring — her up on it! Chances are, your girlfriend has communicated very clearly to this person what she wants, and they’ll be able to steer you down the right path.

5. She wakes up and says “I had the best dream that you got me a princess-cut vintage style diamond ring, isn’t that crazy?”

No, that’s not crazy. You should probably set aside some time to go find a ring just like that.

So there you have it — 5 different ways that should tell you that she has a ring in mind, and that you should probably go out and get it!

2013′s Hottest Summer Engagement Ring Styles

2013 tacori engagement ring

By Sharon, Genesis Diamonds

Perhaps the title of this blog is a little misleading. Engagement rings are not pieces of clothing that are bought every season according to a new hotter color or trend. Engagement rings are for life and as a rule cost a heck of a lot more than your average piece of clothing. Consequently, engagement ring styles for spring/summer will be the same as those for autumn/winter.

When it comes to selecting an engagement ring it is a totally subjective matter. There should be one rule and one rule only – buy the engagement ring that your fiancé loves within the constraints of your budget. Thankfully there are a number of designers who specialize in the manufacture of engagement rings. They offer a comprehensive range of rings to suit every taste and budget and due to their ability to buy in bulk they can afford to pass on the savings from their economies of scale.

If you are looking for classically designed rings with a modern twist and incredible attention to detail than look no further than Tacori engagement rings. It is these attributes that make Tacori engagement rings among the most popular on the market. And with over 200 ring designs in their catalog, there is sure to be something your fiancé will love.

If by chance there is nothing that your fiancé loves than it may be styles like Ritani that take her fancy. Ritani engagement rings are renowned for their intricacy and beautifully adorned designs. And if there is an idea that your fiancé has for that dream ring, the designers at Ritani will work with her to create a custom ring to her exact specifications.

It may be rings such as Simon G. rings that take her fancy though. Wildly popular and highly sought after, Simon G. engagement rings mix classical design with modernity and refinement to create a ring that will look as fresh and appealing at your 50th wedding anniversary as it did when you first bought it. Simon G. also has a celebrated line of men’s engagement rings, so perhaps you can find something else that you have in common – a love for Simon G. engagement rings.

Whereas Ritani is the master of cutting a diamond to maximize its brilliance, Simon G. uses almost exclusively a diamond from Botswana – the patented Swana Diamond. These diamond have an 89 facet cut that displays an immaculate eight-pointed star in the heart of the diamond that amplifies the stone’s brilliance. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Diamonds have been around for millennia and engagement rings for centuries. The styles of ring settings may have changed and evolved over the years but you will find similar styles today to what was manufactured over a century ago. Classical elegance is always in vogue – irrespective of the season.

Planning on popping the question this summer? Which of the engagement ring styles pictured above fits your girl’s style the most? Tell us in the comment section below.

5 Steps to Designing Your Own Custom Wedding Rings

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

joseph jewelry custom ringsLet’s face it, guys. Shopping for jewelry probably isn’t too high on the list of wedding planning activities you’re most looking forward to. This is probably due to jewelry shopping horror stories you’ve heard from friends and families. It’s a fair point, but one that doesn’t have to hold true. One of the most intimate ways you can get involved in wedding planning is actually designing your own custom wedding jewelery.

Intrigued?

We recently had the opportunity to talk with Seattle’s Joseph Jewelry about just how simple it can be to design your own engagement ring or wedding bands. Joseph Jewelry specializes in creating custom jewelry that fits your style and budget. Instead of going to the obligatory chain store and browsing hundreds of rings that were designed with the mass consumer in mind, YOU get to work directly with Joseph’s professional designers to truly craft the ring(s) of your dreams. The process may sound complex but it’s anything but. Here’s the quick five-step guide on how it works:

Step 1: Design Your experience begins with an initial (free) consultation where you’ll meet with one of Joseph’s skilled jewelry artisans to discuss style ideas and view finished examples. If you’re a tech guy, you’ll enjoy viewing computer generated images that will show what your end product will look like. This consultation is all about forming a personal bond with the artisan who will be creating a piece of jewelry that you’ll wear for the rest of your life.

If you’re on a solo custom engagement ring shopping trip, don’t forget to go have a solid idea of what her preferences are BEFORE heading to the consultation.

Step 2: Quote Joseph Jewelry prides themselves on crafting beautiful, custom jewelry that stays within your budget. Once your design and choice of gemstone and metal quality are decided on, an estimate will be provided.

Step 3: 3D Modeling Now the fun can begin. Using your custom design, a 3D model of your ring will be created. Changes can still be made to the piece throughout this process — without a price change, in most cases. Once the 3D model is completed, it’s sent to you for edits and approval.

Step 4: Wax Molds The next step is using  stereo lithography technology to create a wax version of your custom design. This version is to scale, so you’ll be able to get the look and feel of the real thing (only in wax). For your convenience, this model can be viewed at Joseph Jewelry or mailed worldwide.

Step 5: Production Your creation comes to life! Production times vary, but plan on the processing taking 3-4 weeks. After you receive your jewelry, your relationship with Joseph Jewelry doesn’t have to end. They offer an array of additional services including appraisals, certifications, repair work, engraving and more.

10 Unique Engagement Ring Ideas

10 unique engagement ring ideas

By John, FancyDiamonds.net

A ring, a ring is but a wondrous thing.

The good news is that my attempts at poetry will begin and end with the above sentence. The bad news is that the sentence is not always correct. Yes there are some amazing rings out there but for the most it’s just the same old designs rehashed in a slightly different way.

If you want to stand out from the crowd though and be a little bit different, the following 10 unique ring ideas may whet your appetite and provide you with some inspiration as to how to do things a little bit differently:

1. Triangular Diamonds – how often can you say that you have seen a triangular diamond in a ring? Well, I’m waiting…The fact is that once you take out the standard shapes of round, princess, emerald, marquise, oval, heart, and cushion, you don’t really see much else.

2. Natural Fancy Color Diamonds – unless you have been on another planet the last few years, you would be aware of the fact that fancy colored diamonds are the new “must have” diamond for celebrities and the wealthy. Engagement rings with fancy yellow diamonds and fancy pink diamonds have graced the fingers of J-Lo and Kelly Clarkson to name but two.

However, there are other colors such as blue, green, champagne, chameleon, orange, gray, and the list goes on with more buyer friendly prices. Natural fancy color diamonds are about 10,000 times rarer than colorless diamonds which means they are not only beautiful but they are also unique.

3. Doing it in the Raw – how about a diamond ring with a diamond that has not been cut and polished? The look is different, the feel is different, and the mystery of not knowing what the stone really contains is both seductive and alluring.

4. Amazing Shapes – rings which are not set in a traditional round shape are off-beat and garner interest. For example, a ring in the shape of a snake coiled around your finger is something that you do not see every day. Combine colored diamonds in the design of the snake and you have a very cool and classy fashion statement.

5. Art Nouveau/Deco – most popular been the years 1890-1910, art nouveau (new art) never really went out of style and probably never will. Followed by art deco, a more modern take on the art nouveau theme, both these artistic movements designed rings that were “new” when first created and still remain “new” today.

6. Why Diamonds? – we can thank DeBeers for some great marketing but why is it that when we think of rings, especially engagement rings, we almost automatically think of diamonds? There are other gemstones such as sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and pearls which are magnificent and stand out from the “standard” diamond ring.

7. Heavy Metal – and whilst eschewing diamonds, why don’t we go one step further and consider a ring without stones at all? Gold, whether it be yellow, white, rose, or pink; platinum, and palladium are all beautiful metals when used by themselves or combined. The trick to making a unique ring with these metals is the design and the craftsmanship.

8. Stacked (Stacking) Rings – when many rings in the guise of one ring leaves you and others confounded as to how these types of rings are created is what I call unique. And the beauty is that you can just keeping stacking.

9. Tattoo You – definitely not for everyone but if you are a little bit wild or perhaps tend to lose things, how about having a ring tattooed on your finger. Even though Pamela Anderson may have started the trend a number of years ago, a tattoo ring is always unique.

10. Back in Black – technically falling under the umbrella of colored diamonds, fancy black diamonds are just so hot at the moment that they bare their own entry. Celebs are going crazy for these stones and when Mr. Big proposed to Carrie in Sex and the City, what color was the diamond in the ring. Need I say more?
