Bride Diapers: Scaring Grooms and Rendering Bridesmaids Useless

Bride_Peeing

Our friends over at The Frisky recently posted about a scary scary development in bridal wear: diapers. Yes, diapers. Like babies wear.

Are you freakin’ kidding me? Diapers for brides? This is genuinely disturbing. Apparently bridal shops have been telling brides about this “trend” for years. I wonder how my wife and I missed out on this during our wedding planning months. Oh yea, I remember, we are grown-ups and don’t wear diapers.

Whatever happened to the good ‘ol days of the Maid of Honor holding up the bride’s dress while she pees? I mean, if that’s off the table, what is the point of even having bridesmaids?

Look, we get it. It’s tough to pee while you’re in a giant puffy dress. But, trust me, you’re going to creep the hell out of the groom if he knows you’re wearing a diaper (possibly full of you know what) while saying your vows. And we’re pretty sure it’s going to creep you out in five years when you’re looking at your wedding album and knowing that under that beautiful gown, you’re wearing a DIAPER.

That’s all. Thanks for reading.

If you’re a bride that wore a diaper on her wedding day, comment below and tell us about it. We welcome all thoughts on why this isn’t as sick as it sounds.

Mariners’ Bullpen Catcher Holds Wedding in Safeco Field Bullpen

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

The Safeco Field Bullpen will host its first wedding today.

The Safeco Field Bullpen will host its first wedding today.

So far this season, the Seattle Mariners’ bullpen has been known for bad pitching. Today, it will take center stage for a different reason – Mariners’ bullpen catcher Jason Phillips will marry his fiance in the Safeco Field bullpen.

Here’s an idea of just how good baseball players have it: Phillips is the Mariners’ bullpen catcher. He is not on the team. He simply warms up the relief pitchers before they come into the game. For his services, he is paid an $80,000 annual salary. During a game against Oakland A’s back in 2009, his soon-to-be-bride, Molly Ray, was sitting in the stands near the bullpen. Phillips signed a baseball, put his phone number on it and tossed it to her. Twelve months later, they’re getting married.

The Anatomy of a Flash Mob Marriage Proposal

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

We recently stumbled upon video of a marriage proposal that (very creatively) utilized a flash freeze mob in Chicago’s John Logan Statue Park. If you haven’t seen this yet, check it out:

We wanted to delve into this growing trend of flash mob usage and what would lead to a guy wanting to propose to his girlfriend this way. We tracked down the groom-to-be, Nick Redmond, and asked him to walk us through the planning and execution of this incredible marriage proposal that took two months of planning and the help of countless others to pull off.

It started at the beginning of February, I had been thinking of ways to propose to Amy and wanted to do something truly spectacular.  Amy and I have always loved downtown Chicago and it has always been our favorite place to be together.  From the beginning, I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done as a proposal before, and something that was truly unique.  I thought about how busy of a city Chicago is, and that it would be amazing if just for a few minutes, I could somehow freeze time and propose in that moment to Amy.  My first course of action was to create a false Facebook page under the name ‘John Jay’.  I then created an event titled ‘Chicago Freeze Flash Mob‘ and began seeking out random people in Chicago to try and help out.

From the looks of her reaction, we’d call this a success. So would Greg Miller from Chicago’s Advertising Anonymous. Greg says that flash mobs are here to stay. He references the largest Flash Mob Society, Improv Everywhere, as proof of the staying power. Improv Everywhere has 49,714 members worldwide.

Greg’s company has been planning and executing mob marketing activities for several years. They were first marketing agency in Chicago to organize it’s own flash mob, which was the Water Wars event at the Chicago Air & Water show in August 2009.

From Greg – “I just love Nick’s story because it basically cost him nothing and was one of the most creative and memorable proposals I’ve ever heard of.”

5 Questions With Ian Lis on the Tim Tebow Proposal

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

By now, we’re assuming you’ve seen the Tim Tebow Marriage proposal:

We tracked down the groom-to-be, Ian Lis, and asked him five questions on the proposal and Tebow. His answers will literally rock your world.

After reading the interview, check out Tebow’s charity over at the Tim Tebow Foundation website. Regardless of fan allegiance, you can’t deny that he’s taking advantage of his fame and doing some great things for people in need.

How did this incredible engagement story come to be?

Long story.  In short, a good idea and phenomenal execution by my whole family as well as Jim (Palm Beach Autographs owner who was running the event) and Tim Tebow of course.  Tebow agreed ahead of time and my sister came up with most of the execution at the event.

Everyone knows how great of a class act Tim Tebow is. What was it like meeting him in person? Did he offer you any advice as you prepare to take this huge step in life?

He is a class act, but we didn’t have time to exchange advice.

It’s going to be hard to top this engagement, but have you thought how involved of a groom you’ll be in the wedding planning? Will you help plan every detail? Or just sit back and wait til the bachelor party?

Somewhere in between.  I will certainly offer my two cents, but I do not think I will go through the stress and planning that this engagement entailed.  I will definitely enjoy the bachelor party, my friends are never short on surprises themselves!

Be honest, do you think your fiance was a little upset that it wasn’t Tebow popping the question?

No.  This is an honest answer.  She certainly admires and adores Tebow, but she was certain who was popping the question, not to mention, she has had 9 years to back out of this deal.  We are both thrilled that he is now going to be a part of our life above and beyond the joy he brought to us during Gator football season.

Wedding talk aside, what kind of NFL pro do you think Tebow will be?

I think this question is overhyped.  The reason being that Tim Tebow transcends sports, as evidenced by the insane reaction this engagement has gotten.  He will be successful regardless of what his NFL future holds.  However, his new release looks promising and his combine efforts were extraordinary.  Talks of New England drafting him are exciting, because a coach like Belichick can certainly help a rookie find his footing.

[Video] Tim Tebow Helps a Florida Gators Fan Pop the Question

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

What a guy that Tim Tebow is. He recently took time out of his NFL draft prep to help Gators super-fan, Ian Lis, pop the question to Sarah Springer.

Tebow is one smooth operator. Just look at the timing on those hugs. Of course, one has to wonder – with the reported going rate of $160 for Tebow’s autograph, what did Lis have to shell out for this?
