The Groom’s Three Wedding Day Bands
Your wedding day is all about you and your lucky bride. But it is also about the three B’s, which in this case are the band that plays your reception, the band your fiancée is ready to put on your finger and the cummerbund you are stuck squeezing around your fat gut. You want to know you made the right choice for all three of these Bs.
To find a killer band to perform at your wedding, you first have to determine what you and your bride want in your band. Do you want a band that performs original songs, cover songs or both? What kind of music do you prefer? If the wife-to-be hates country music, do yourself a favor and don’t book a country music band. Otherwise your wedding night could be kind of lonely.
When you know what you want in a band, ask around for recommendations. If you know someone who has recently gotten married or someone who is in a band, ask them to recommend a great band for your wedding. Sometimes word of mouth is the most honest form of advertising out there.
Once you have some bands in mind, contact each band and discuss your needs with them. If you come to a formal agreement, make sure you get it in writing; otherwise you might be in for an unpleasant surprise on your wedding day.
Speaking of your wedding day, the next of the three Bs is your wedding band. Not the one you hopefully just hired, but the one your beloved will put on your ring finger as a symbolic part of the happiest day of your life.
Be prepared for the fact that you and your lovely bride picking out your wedding bands will rank right up there among the happiest days of her life, if not yours too. If you hate shopping as much as most men do, you will likely want to get this shopping trip done as soon as possible so you can get home to your big screen TV and your favorite sports network. Just remember that the wedding band you pick out will be on your ring finger every day for the rest of your life, so you might as well take the time to find one you won’t mind wearing.
Every guy wants a manly looking wedding band as opposed to one that looks like it belongs on his bride-to-be. You want your wedding band to be as tough and bad ass as you are, or at least as tough and bad ass as you want people to think you are. While she can probably find a wedding band pretty easily, you might not have as many decent choices. This is why lots of men buy their soon to be bride’s wedding band at a brick-and-mortar jewelry store but buy their own online. In addition to the traditional gold and platinum wedding bands, the very manly men’s tungsten wedding bands are available in a variety of designs, metal combinations and lazer etching. You can see an example here.
Once you have the first two Bs picked out, it’s time for the most uncomfortable B of all, the cummerbund. While you may not want to wear one on your wedding day at all, chances are your fiancée has already acquired you one that is the exact same color as her bridesmaid’s dresses. This is because women have this compulsion to have everything match everything else on their wedding day. So as much as you know you don’t want to squeeze your gut into a cummerbund, you know you’re going to have to anyway. Because the last thing you want on your wedding day is a ticked off bride-to-be.
