The Top 5 Winter Bachelor Party Outings

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Old Man Winter has officially reared his ugly head across the country (unless you’re in LA). Hell, we’ve even seen the roof collapse in on an NFL stadium due to heavy snow. To me, this sounds like the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the elements.  So today, we’re showcasing five adventure bachelor party outings that are ideal for frigid temperatures.

bachelor party snow ski trip

Maybe you should start off on the beginner's course

Skiing

Even if you don’t live in an area with loads of natural snowfall, many US cities are within an hour’s drive from a ski resort that’s either in the mountains or utilizes fake snow. As a kid, I went to Hidden Valley in Eureka, MO. You can find your local ski resort by checking gout SkiWhere.

jamaican bobsled team

Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its bobsled time!

Bobsledding

Give me an opening to fit ‘Cool Runnings’ into a blog post and I’ll do it. Hey, did you know that the real Jamaican bobsled team didn’t pick up their sled and carry it to the finish line like you saw in the movie? Shocking that Hollywood would add something to dramatize a story. Anyways, there are plenty of places within the US where you can book group bobsled outings. If you’re going all out for the stag weekend, I recommend planning a pilgrimage to Salt Lake City where you can do a run on the actual track used in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

bachelor party snowmobile

Fiancee's dig snowmobiles.

Snowmobile Rentals

This just in: snowmobiles are badass. If you think your friends are man enough to handle speeds of over 100mph — check out this sample weekend outing tailored around boozing, BBQ and cabin lodging. Oh and you didn’t hear this from me, but there’s a second seat on most snowmobile models that are perfect for driving strippers around.

man ice fishing

It's not as cold as it looks. Ah screw it, yes it is.

Ice Fishing

There really is nothing like bonding with your boys in frigid temperatures while sitting around a small hole in the ice waiting to get a bite. Maybe you will, maybe you won’t. But it’s really not about the fish, it’s about the loving memories you’ll be creating [this paragraph sponsored by Dr. Phil].

ice bumper cars

I bet you didn't know something this awesome existed.

Ice Bumper Cars

Doesn’t the guy in this picture look like he’s having a good time? This could be YOU because this incredible activity actually exists. Los Angelenos can book the ice bumper cars for parties of 8-14 people through our good friends over at Firefly Group Events. If you don’t live in LA, contact Firefly to get info for your area.

Don’t Buy a Diamond Without Talking to Max

Monday, December 13th, 2010

No, this is not a marquee for a strip club.

No, this is not a marquee for a strip club.

“It’s like Kelley Blue Book, except for diamonds.”

This is how Max’s Diamond Price Guide was described to me when I first heard about it last week.  I have to admit, it’s pretty ingenious. Most guys, including myself pre-engagement, have no idea how to budget for an diamond ring. And why would we? We’re talking about a group of consumers whose collective jewelry buying experience revolves around those coin operated vending machines at the grocery store.

Max’s Price Guides, LLC is an independent resource meaning they’re not trying to sell you anything. They’re simply aiming to provide relevant, timely and acurate pricing that will enhance the shopping experience. What’s not to love? The team at Max’s has over 25 years of real-world diamond valuation experience. Here are just a few of the tools that they offer:

Avoid the diamond crapshoot. This isn't a grocery store. This is one of the most important purchases you'll ever make.

Pricing information that is updated weekly – Diamond prices often change based on a number of factors within the market. The weekly pricing information on Max is produced using a proprietary system that evaluates vast amounts of actual market prices and relevant, worldwide economic data. In addition to pricing data, they offer research tools, feature articles, news reports, and diamond education resources.

RealMarket Value Search Tool – A tool you’ll us to make sure the price is right. Max’s editors verify and update prices weekly to give you useful, relevant market pricing information. Enter a diamond Shape, Carat Weight, Color Grade, Clarity Grade, and Cut Grade and get a free RealMarket Value report for the diamond. Available values include Suggested Retail Price – In Store, Suggested Retail Price – Internet, Private Party Transaction Price, and the Sell to Jeweler Price. Values are updated weekly.

The “What Diamond Can I Afford?” Tool – This tool helps you figure out the best carat, color, clarity, and cut available in your budget. Through the Max’s Diamond Price Guide site, you can produce a report in minutes that will be your guide to selecting the right diamond within your spending budget.

Find a Local Jeweler – Search for an approved local jeweler in your area using Google Maps. Simple and EASY

Currency Converter – Diamond retails prices are often quoted in local currency. This powerful currency conversion tool calculates prices in a foreign currency.

To connect further with Max’s Diamond Price Guide, check them out on Twitter and Facebook. And tell them TMR sent you!
