Five Things I Care More About Than Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Wedding
A lot of people have asked me why we haven’t blogged about Prince William’s engagement to Kate Middleton yet. The reason is twofold. For starters, I’ve been too busy watching paint dry on my office wall. Also, when I have had spare time recently — I’ve been focusing on the following five things that I find much more interesting than any royal wedding.
The World Championship of Sand Sculpting
I used to build some pretty mean sand castles back in the day, but I’ve got nothing on the participant’s in The World Championship of Sand Sculpting. This competition features solo artists and teams from across the world competing for the title of Master Sand Sculptor. Sadly, this year’s tournament has already passed — so I’ll be staring at the clock for 10 months awaiting the beginning of next year’s contest in Federal Way, WA.
It was the freakin’ trees!
I had to spend some time researching this one. The fuzz, commonly called felt, is a wool-like substance that keeps the ball from bouncing too high. It also allows the player to control the ball’s movement better because the racket can grip felt better than plain rubber. Fascinating stuff.
The Kendallville, Indiana Police Blotter
Small town news blotters are the best. Today, I threw a dart at a map and discovered Kendallville, IN. After reading their published police reports, I feel like I’ve lived there all my life. Oh look, A car-deer collision at 5:50 p.m. Thursday near S.R. 3 South and South Main Street resulted in no injuries to the driver, Jody G. Nasca, 50, of Kendallville. That’s Jody for ya!
Whatever happened to Jimmy Ray?
Who remembers this one-hit wonder from the 90’s? I certainly do. And I’ve certainly spent many a sleepless night deep in thought over what became of him. Did he get burnt out? Creative differences with his production team? Arrested? Dead? The world may never know.. and that is a crime!

As a Wedding pro, I’m torn about this wedding. Personally, I couldn’t care less. What the neighbors dog left on my lawn is of bigger concern.
But, professionally, I’m curious what effect this will have on trends and designs. The same people that can write entire blogs about shoes, will go crazy over whatever Kate wears in her hair. The DIY, and Budget blogs will dedicate weeks and weeks of posts about how to get the same centerpieces using old tuna cans.
The Green wedding blogs will claim you too can have Kate’s ultra shiny hair by using avocados and reclaimed peanut butter.
Personally, I hope the Prince will wear 501′s. I’d love it if my wardrobe came back into style.

Who?
Haha, Just kidding.. Surprisingly, celebrity (and royal) weddings do effect the trends in the industry. Shortly after their engagement, the search for colored stone and sapphire engagement rings spiked.
